Polk DSW Pro 550wi Reliable product and comments on the previous review

I have a Polk setup for my home theater that sounds great, inexpensive (sold me a tweeter, believe it or not) and just got two Added DSW Pros 550i With my Velodyne finally giving up after 14 years I just had to post a review to get food for thought before posting potentially inaccurate 1 or 2 review comments when possible buyer error came into play. The rating is that the 550 is a great sub for the money and arguably as good as more expensive subs (many professional reviewers make value a hallmark of their rating). Someone remarked that they have NO bass. Probably because they connected the LFE to the 550 and played their AVR in a mode with no LFE output, like multi-channel stereo. In order to produce LFE you must play in Dolby Digital or DTS mode which produces the LFE signal! My AV preamp is a Marantz 7701 for reference so readers can check the music modes offered by their preamp or AVR. Came without remote control and power cord. Of course, Polk is one of the oldest and most well-known speaker companies, so that sounded very strange. Not that it couldn't be! A phone call to them would likely resolve the issue quickly, but it sounded like anger got the better of them and the review was posted. When the boxes for my two subwoofers arrived, I found it odd that the box said "Open at bottom first!". Heading in that direction, I remembered a bad review that bemoaned the lack of a remote and cable. They are packed in a styrofoam at the BOTTOM of the box! Probably to protect them from the sub itself if it ever slips out of the box. Again, it's not like they can't stay away. But I assume they were there, and if this reviewer ever found out, they never provided an update. Reason for 1? As for the reviews mentioning devices breaking right out of warranty, I understand. I broke a curved (I know but it was cool for a minute) 65 inch TV (good brand with no name) 3 months out of warranty. Now for a $5,000 TV I'll buy an enhanced one. But hey, they're electronics and stuff happens. While such an overview is valuable, the reader should consider those who oppose the good. My main argument is that reviews affect business and you should think carefully before posting bad ones. Oh, and two subwoofers are better than one!
