It is not difficult to replace the battery.

My Roomba has been in the garage since I moved out 4 years ago. The battery died before I moved. I was able to replace the battery and now my old friend keeps my floor spotless again. It wasn't difficult to change. Remove the side brush, screws. and below. Take out the old battery, put in a new one and screw the bottom and side brushes back on. I cleaned it well when I took it apart but it wasn't really heavy.
