This basket is great in concept, functional and safe after some major modifications. The mount that attaches it to the bike feels solid and well designed. The basket itself is a good size and comfortable for my dogs. (10 and 14 pounds). It is made of plastic material woven around a wire metal frame. My only complaint is that, as others have pointed out, the metal clips attached to the nylon handlebar straps rub and wear on the O-rings for the keys. to which they are attached. This friction will cause the clip to break and the basket to suddenly detach from the handlebars. Once this happens, you're just one hit away from your pet's entire basket falling out of the holder. We have two of these baskets and both had clip failures. So this is not an isolated case. With this basket it is more of a permanent cancellation. Since several reviewers have encountered the same problem, the producer should really consider an overhaul of this clip. Aluminum carabiners that now attach directly to the basket. (I've included pictures of this in my description.) 1. First, I removed the old clips from the nylon straps with wire cutters.2. I also removed the o-rings that the old clips were attached to from the basket itself.3. I then inserted the new carabiner clips into the same seam pocket that currently holds the two D-rings used to tie the straps. I then attached new carabiners to the basket frame and reattached the straps to the handlebars. After about 100 miles of typical small bump city driving, this mod seems to be working and holding up well. I will update this review if I run into any problems in the future. Overall I like the basket and given the other options available I think this design is still the best. We bike quite a bit and I'm a little worried about how the basket materials will hold up to heavy use. After some thought, I finally decided to reinforce the basket with some zip ties on my bike. I'm not sure if he really needed it, but after the clamps failed I wanted to make sure my dogs were safe from further part failures.
