They are great. This is exactly how I wanted my metal straws to be so I would stop chattering my teeth every time I drink. Small round things can be used to hold the straw on the lid. Simply place one over and under the lid that opens around the straw and the straw won't fall into the mug. Personally, I use small round pieces as buffers so the metal straw doesn't rattle on my drinking glasses.
