very disappointed. The game itself looks cheap

I am a learning specialist and bought this game to use with some of my students who need some extra practice with multiplication tables, division facts and concepts of multipliers and multiples . I buy a lot of math games and also make my own. I was so excited when this game arrived yesterday but after opening the box and playing around I was very very disappointed. The instructions are confusing - they even seem incomplete. The "cheesecakes" (orange and green chips) are cheap plastic and the pens that come with the writing/erasing pads are not dark enough to see anything on, in fact 2 of them are shades of yellow. The "game arena" is already assembled for you in the box, which is nice, but the spectator rat cartoons on the sides of the arena are positioned correctly on two sides and upside down on the other two. The arena is unusable as a playing field as it is cardboard but has gaps between the sides and the floor so small plastic chips (cheese) get stuck under the sides and are very difficult to pick out. Realizing this is our first game we still had doubts about the game and decided to use the tabletop as the game arena as we had issues with the included game arena. However, all the students I played with got bored with the game and said it wasn't fun at all. I agreed with them. There doesn't seem to be anything special about the game's plot and I'll find a way to rearrange pieces as it's not a game I'll continue to use with my students.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
