I needed to add a network outlet for a streaming device to our bedroom but didn't want to install another box in the wall so this overlay was the perfect solution. I removed the existing coax board and cable from the back of the board. I ran a Cat 6 cable through the inside of an attic wall. I attached a Cat 6 cable and a coax cable to the back of this panel. Screw the plate back to the wall. Done, if you don't have a set of Cat6 crimping tools (or don't feel like crimping) this insert works great. Simply purchase a Cat 6 cable of the required length with connectors on both ends, then simply plug one end into the back of the panel. Saves the hassle of tinting a new cable if you're using a pre-made one.
