Great suction for a cordless vacuum, some interesting features

Overall, this is another fantastic vertical stick vacuum from Shark. Not sure what to compare it to because it has almost the power of an AC vacuum with Dyson portability, which is a bit heavy. The powerful brush does a great job on both hard floors and carpets, including thick rugs, and the dust bin is easy to empty, which is good as it fills up quickly. In fact, this vacuum cleaner is not designed for deep cleaning or long-term cleaning. 5 minutes of carpet cleaning at maximum power (there are 3 speeds) drains the battery to around 50%. It works well for quick daily cleaning, and the battery can be quickly swapped out to keep working when needed. I'm not sure how I feel about charging. You can't just plug the vacuum cleaner into the wall adapter to charge it, you have to remove the big battery and charge it in the charging station. Yes, it's more powerful than my Dyson V11 Animal, but it charges automatically when I place it on the included stand. So it's a bit more of a hassle to charge after a day or so, but if you use lower speeds on a hard floor you can last a week before needing a charge. The device is quite easy to manoeuvre. , but the motor, battery and dustbin are heavy assemblies that attach to the underside next to the electric brush. You can detach it and hold the whole device with one hand while vacuuming with the other, but it quickly becomes heavy and is mainly intended as an extension pole for vacuuming high rooms or furniture. I tried using the electric brush on carpet stairs with the main unit disconnected and the electric brush is very powerful compared to other vacuums, but I had to go up the stairs with the crevice tool to get into the cracks as the brush couldn't get in could get into all corners where dust can hide. The control panel on the handle is easy to read and the buttons are real buttons, not just a touchpad. Quick floor to carpet transitions and speed changes, plus a huge battery gauge so you always know where you are in terms of remaining charge. The handle can be attached directly to the electric brush when you remove the aluminum rod, which is good for narrow spaces. If you do this, the part of the canister will not be attached and must be hand-held. The biggest advantage of such a vacuum cleaner is that it is battery operated, but this adds a lot of weight compared to mains-operated models. It also saves time as you don't have to unplug and plug it back in when you move to another room. The extra weight didn't really bother me, and the electric brush helps make the device lighter on all surfaces. The attachments supplied are typical Shark parts and, like the rest of the vacuum cleaner, are of high quality. When you detach the main unit you get a very powerful car vacuum cleaner and it is one of the most powerful cordless vacuum cleaners I have ever used. The suction is much stronger than the Dyson but also heavier and bulkier with a hose and large main unit compared to the tiny suction and battery unit in my V11. The bin fills up quickly and I don't mind because I know what works well. It picks up a lot more dust than the Dyson, justifying the extra weight and shorter battery life because at the end of the day I just want my floors to be as clean as possible. I stopped vacuuming every day and now only vacuum every other day. Just 5 minutes a day to get to all my rooms quickly is not a big ordeal. I really think this Shark vacuum is one of the most interesting I've used and the filters do a good job of filtering out dust and dander which other battery powered vacuums don't. The Duo Power brush on this unit is also fantastic and is the best I've seen on a battery vacuum. If you can live with a short battery life and a slightly awkward shape and weight, this is an amazing vacuum to keep my Dyson docked as it performs so much better, especially on carpets.
