Bad for privacy, good for barrier or decoration

As other reviewers have observed, the photo on the order page is the OLD version of this product. I know because I have the old version, which has sticks that are twice as thick and wired more closely together. I ordered the NEW version of this product and installed it next to the old one so I have a perfect comparison. Although the old one didn't give 100% privacy it was much, much better than the new. You can basically see right through the new one, especially at night -- you can't even tell it's there! I really only need it as a barrier to prevent my Jack Russell Shorties from going down a steep hill into my neighbor's yard. I would say the NEW product is really just decorative and makes a decent barrier for keeping pets/toddlers from going past a boundary, but it provides NO PRIVACY at all. Not sure it will last as long as the old one has since the sticks are sooo skinny. If you are trying to hide an unsightly item like garbage pails or ac units, I guess it's better than nothing, but you'll still see the items behind this fencing. Also, I wanted to order this from HomeDepot.com and they too showed the old photo but to add insult to injury, they had the wrong model number on the webpage, so don't order it from them. I purchased 1/2" rebar and cut it down to 7' and pounded it into the ground 2 feet. I put 1 post of rebar on each end and then 2 more in between and it seems sturdy. We had super strong winds here in MN this past Sunday (40+ mph gusts and crazy windy) and the fence held up nicely, probably because it is porous. I attached the fencing to the rebar using zip ties. I bought the 5' x 13' roll and it is free-standing on my property border. Also good fencing if you don't want to hassle with the city council for permission to erect a fence (because this isn't permanent -- but check with your city first anyway).

Pros
  • Good quality and arrived quickly.
Cons
  • This willow is not what is in the picture. It is thin like bamboo. Waste of money.
