I really thought it was broken until I realized it wouldn't work unless you remove the plastic case (you can remove the top but you must remove it from below or it won't go all the way in). Now it works great as it can make full contact with two ports. Next time I'd probably go with the connector that's on the cable, but it's really nice not having things clinging to your MacBook if you need to move it, and it fits really well and fits snugly and doesn't take up a lot of space . All ports work great.
