I bought a tie dye shirt for my little son. He is a size 8 in shirts and slim. The shirt fitted him perfectly. Definitely go up for a more comfortable fit if your kids are not skinny. I could increase the size and it would still be fine. Hopefully they won't shrink after a few washes. I didn't read the description and thought it was a cotton t-shirt. It's polyester, which I don't like for t-shirts, but it's great for those hot summer days. It's soft and the colors are vibrant.
