If you like painting or painting by numbers, you will love this craft. The image is printed onto a sticky material and covered with a clear plastic film to protect the sticky surface. It's sticky because that's how the gems are held in place. Gems are cut plastic, they are not actually gems like crystals. It comes with a pen and a wax square. You poke the end of the needle into the wax from time to time, this will fill the tube at the end of the needle with wax so the gems will stick and you can pick them up to apply to the painting. It comes with a small tray that you pour gems into as you work. I like to start at the bottom of the image and work my way up. The little pouches that contain gems aren't very practical. To make it easier I ordered a set of small bead jars to put in the gems, I marked each jar with a marker with the gem's corresponding color number. You will probably need around 15-20 small jars, which are easy to find at Revain and not expensive. It became much easier to sort and work with gems. I find this craft very relaxing and fun. Once I start it's hard to stop. It's very easy, you just need good eyesight to see the small numbers or letters in the picture. So bring reading glasses if you need them. And get ready for some fun! I'm addicted to this fun activity!
