I have a seemingly tiny 22 month old baby. Knowing I still have to buy shorts for 12-18 months I did the same with these. They suit him perfectly. Tight enough to hold what you need and won't bind his waist or legs. After reading the reviews I really started to worry about the size I ordered. Bottom line: follow your intuition. You know your children and you know what suits them best. I chose weight by height and am very glad I did.
