I bought this because of the gathered rim to improve the look and improve the baking of homemade pie crusts. He not only helped, but also seared everything evenly and nicely on the inside. The cake came off the plate intact so it was easy to clean with warm soapy water. I kept it in the freezer for a few hours after cooling at room temperature. At every stage it worked better than I expected. Not to mention you get form and function as this is such a beautiful dish it can actually be carried from the oven to the table. He arrived safely. As this is a fairly solid (heavy) serving item, together with a good serving knife it makes a great gift. I absolutely recommend it
