This phone mount works great with my iPhone 6s+ in the Incipio Slim case. I tried the Galaxy s5 in an Otterbox Commuter case and the case makes this combination too thick. As for the heat issue, I hate having hot air blowing on my face, so I almost never use the dash fans in the winter. I prefer to run my car heater on a mix of floor and defroster or just on the floor. If you like the hot airflow, I see that as an issue - the potential for heating the phone. I tried this mount on a 2011 Expedition with a round vent with thicker rotating fins and a 2008 Explorer with thinner fins. and rectangular vent. It suits both. It works a little better with Explorer. I had no issues with it tipping in Expedition, but I could see it tipping a bit due to road vibration if your vent was loose and swiveling slightly. Maybe turning the fan upside down would help?
