(Edit/Update April 2021) I bought these shoes in May 2019 (original review below) but I wanted a high Chacos guarantee score! These shoes broke in March 2021 (large crack in the sole at the ball of the foot, see picture - the other shoe also started doing the same) so I sent them out. A few days after the USPS was supposed to ship them to the ReChaco/Warranty location, I received an email from the warranty department stating that they had determined the problem was with the materials. They gave me a promo code so I could order another pair. Shipping the shoes was excruciating (you have to ship them yourself and considering the chacos are a little heavy it costs a little more than I would like to pay for shipping) but I love that they stand behind their product and will work it right if something goes wrong. ________________________________________________________________ (Original review) Now that I've had the shoes for a while I'm starting to like them. The stability is great! I climbed around the playground equipment and tended to the children as if I were wearing sneakers. Usually sandals slide all over the place when I try this. The comfort factor isn't fantastic (yet) but to be honest they are more comfortable than most of my other sandals. And knowing that they are made to last (unlike my other sandals which usually only last a few months) makes this a worthwhile purchase. such big surprises. So, for those who want to know what I learned, here it is: 1) Size. I wrote "too big" although this pair is suitable. I usually wear size 9 shoes. The first pair I bought was a 9 and looked like clown shoes. I ended up in a stone shop that sells chacos and tried them on until I realized I was wearing 7s in chacos! I haven't worn size 7 shoes since middle school. My advice is if you can try them on in a real store, do so before buying online. If you make them too big, the arch of the shoe will hit the wrong part of the foot, causing a lot of discomfort. 2) Bubbles: yes. I got uncomfortable blisters (on my arch and arch) on the raised areas where the straps meet the sole. I also ignored the advice to break them in by wearing them briefly and I wore them to work (as an elementary school teacher, including field days). Connected the blisters and just carried them on. Now, almost 2 weeks later, the blisters have turned into calluses and the shoes don't hurt anymore. Don't plan on wearing them for an extended period of time when you first get them unless you don't mind the pain. I have friends who only wear chacos in the summer, and they find that unless you wear them year-round, it takes a little break-in time each year. 3) Self-Tightening Bands. At first it was a big problem. It still happens to some degree, but not at an uncomfortable level. I "tidyed" them up a bit, which helped a bit. Throwing them in the washing machine (tender, cold) had a big effect. I think that continued wearing will cause these straps to sag.
