Nice set of Russian nesting dolls. There are 5 pieces in the set, each with their own unique facial features and expression. Each doll holds its own fruit, except for the smallest, which has its arms crossed in front of its chest. They are traditionally hand painted although I believe this particular set was printed although the white flowers on the dolls are textured so it could have been a combination of both. They are made of natural wood and align well when assembled. The facial features are quite pleasant. I've seen some in the past that looked almost ugly, but that doesn't apply to this set. They are packed in a nice matryoshka printed box and can be a great gift. I collect them for the display shelf, but when my kids were younger I let them play with dolls and put them together like a puzzle, which the company advertises. While you can definitely do this, I would caution against leaving a child unattended as some parts, as well as small dolls, can easily become a choking hazard. Young children also tend to put things in their mouths and can easily leave teeth marks on dolls and damage fragile wooden parts. For me they are more suitable for exhibiting and giving away. In general a very good set of nesting dolls, good quality.
