I spent a lot of time researching different types of cooling pads for my laptop as most of them on the lower end looked either incredibly thin or not very powerful. In the end I chose this one and am very happy with it. I've been using it for about two months now. First, the cooling factor. My 13-inch Lenovo X220 laptop isn't particularly powerful (I got it as a work device), but I use it to the max and I'm also in Houston right now, which is very hot and muggy. , so my laptop got so hot that it was uncomfortable to put my hands on the keyboard due to the heat emitted from it. According to the Open Hardware Monitor, it currently runs at a cool 85° C underneath it. The drop in temperature is clearly noticeable. The fans are quiet unless I'm squeezing my laptop hard, in which case the fans seem to rub against the top of the mesh and make a grinding noise. This only happens if you really push it down, and might not happen at all on a 15-inch laptop as the pressure is distributed more to the corners of the cooling pad. for better ventilation and tilt the laptop to a more ergonomic typing angle. The slope is about 10-15 degrees. The legs themselves aren't flimsy when extended and have good support so they don't slip or click as you move your arms from side to side. The mesh surface adheres well to the rubber straps on the underside of my laptop, so there are no slipping irritations here either. It is USB powered, but the USB connector is male + female, so you won't lose a USB connector when you plug it in. The new socket sticks out about an inch, so it might feel a little flimsy when you have a large USB drive plugged into it, but it works well with small things. If you want to transport it, there's a USB slot that you can plug a USB plug into, so it has a fairly low profile in a suitcase with little risk of damaging it. My only real issue is with the blue lights - they're not very bright and are mostly eclipsed by the laptop, but I still feel like it's an unnecessary image. All in all, this is a very minor complaint. Overall, there is probably no better cooling pad in this price range.
