First, the chamber accommodates medium sized weed at best. Do not overdo it or the mill will not turn. Also, don't expect the ground product to come through the tip that easily unless the leaves you start with are dry and sticky. It will not. It's usually too sticky. You simply leave the screw cap on the handpiece and unscrew the chamber ABOVE the reservoir or other protective surface to catch any spills while you remove the sharpener from the chamber and empty it into the reservoir. If you want to grind a lot of coffee, this is not the grinder you need (use a clean grinder or a good blender). It is at best suitable for everyday use. In fact, it probably lasts a little less than the average 2.1-inch hand sander. That being said, it grinds more evenly than a manual grinder, and my arthritic hands find it easier to just fill it up and press a button than using a manual grinder. I like it and keep it, but took off a star because the weed doesn't flow out of the top (even if you tap it on the bottom of the container) as it looks in the photo.
