The Half-tone performs poorly in terms of XA, general sharpness across the field, AF, and overall performance when compared to the EF 24-70 f/2.8L II USM when both lenses are set to a focal length of 50 millimeters and an aperture of f/2.8 (which is open for zoom!). Only if you want to fix things, have exactly fifty kopecks, a wide aperture, and autofocus is it worthwhile to take it now. The advantages or disadvantages of bokeh, color, or pattern will not be covered in this essay. Some people really like it, but in my opinion, those people have never seen truly artistic lenses, which are often those that lack autofocus. There is a sketch, and while the background washes and the colors communicate well, I'm not very taken with it. Thus, I do not advise buying this lens! Although the EF 24-70 II and the 70-200 II are not significantly more expensive, if you don't need a fix, they will win in every category. The 70-200 II also has a good stub, which can make up for the two and a half stop difference for some (f/1.2 - f/2.8). XA are just awful, not just for a lens of this class but for lenses in general, including at / 2.8. The sum of money was beyond my comprehension. In 2022, the lens will no longer be functional. Autofocus, HA, and sharpness were already below average when the review was published in 2022; nevertheless, by today's standards, they are far worse than the baseline, which was already inadequate. If autofocus on the EOS is necessary, pick a 1.4 half-length from the available choices.
