This unit works very well when properly installed. Now I have placed the transmitting detector unit in a transparent sterilite container with the window cut out as shown in the picture. Whenever the postman or delivery man approaches the house, the bell alerts us to the presence of someone near the house. The distance to the object is more than 60 feet! Also, the seller got back to us quickly when we had questions. I think it's a five star machine and a third party company. I really want to stress that the seller is reliable and responsive and you should be aware that the device will be exposed to intermittent sunlight when it is outdoors. It has been outdoors for more than a year and the batteries last 8 months. My total installation cost is less than $35 and we are very satisfied. I bought another one for our backyard and once installed they stand up to the extreme New England weather. UPDATE: Three years! Can you believe it? The $20 IR sensor and receiver work great even in very harsh New England weather. He tells us when the postman, Revain Fresh, or the paperboy arrived in the driveway. I was absolutely shocked to see how incredibly it held up. I change the batteries every six months and it still works. Wow. Best buy!
