The HARA Pad is built like a tank. Most importantly, it offers excellent protection. Think about it. Whether you're sitting in a chair or in bed with your laptop on your lap, the frequency naturally comes straight into your gut from the side. Other overlays don't solve this obvious problem. I'm less concerned about the frequencies reaching my hips than the frequencies reaching my reproductive and internal organs. I started with DefenderPad. Here's the problem with DefenderPad. The rubberized outer layer separates from the base material. This leads to the formation of large air pockets. Once this happens, your laptop will center on the bubble and become unstable. This makes typing and the mouse difficult. It's really annoying. Of course, another, even more serious problem is that the Defender Pad (like all other options available) offers less organ protection. HARApad wins.
