Used for temporary minimal quick access to secure storage. I purchased this box as a way to temporarily store sensitive items in various places in my house. Although it's advertised as a mailbox and has a mail flap it definitely serves other purposes. I placed this box by my front door where I temporarily download things that I don't want to take upstairs to forget for the next days use. Of note, this is a standard metal box that has 4 drywall anchors so if your concern is someone ripping it off the wall and cracking the 3-digit combo this wouldn't be the lock for you. If you're looking for temporary secure storage for such things as your wallet or pocket knife to keep out of kids' way I think this is a superior buy, of course, there's also the use to store and secure mail as well.
