I use this belt as a dress belt simply because it is smaller in width and weight than a 1 3/8 inch wide belt. Ratchet a little closer to the open end of the strap. This allows for more flexibility of use and also allows more strap to be cut, reducing the amount of extra strap left after closure. This is the best belt of its kind and I have bought many of these belts and the ratchet buckles that go with them.
