Review on Fiskars X25 Splitting Axe: 28-Inch Length for Superior Splitting Power by Trae Joubert

So far I've roughly split the cord of a tree (green and white spruce, 14-16" long, 14-24" diameter) into three different Fiskars axes (25X, 28 -inch cleaver and 36-inch 6# impact sledgehammer) and in my opinion the X25 combines the best qualities of the other two: more accuracy and less swing weight than a sledgehammer and more splitting power than a sledgehammer. cut ax. What all three models have in common is the almost unbreakable, vibration-damped handle. My accuracy isn't amazing, and I've hit my hands and broken many wooden handles looking for logs, strong or small. With the x25's shorter and stronger grip I have a lot more control and confidence which allows me to swing harder. My basic strategy was to use a hammer to make the first cuts of the big rounds and then finish the rest of the cuts with X25. It handles smooth-fiber logs with ease and is as good as a sledgehammer on twisted-fiber logs. The increased accuracy I get with x25 almost outweighs the mace's weight advantage. While it's nice to have both x25 and a hammer, if I had to pick just one, I'd go with the X25.
