I have used these to remove burn residue from the heat affected zone of MIG welds in carbon steel. The brush fingers are malleable enough to clean the weld area in preparation for powder coating without changing the appearance of the weld. The durability is much better than sanding pads, although the material removal rate is lower than a new sanding pad. Cleans great but don't expect a lot of stock removal. Hitting the metal with an 80 grit wheel these pads will not polish the 80 grit scratch pattern but are excellent at removing any residue from burning surface contaminants. I like them so much I will be keeping a box of these in my abrasives drawer.
