Review on Maxivideo MV208 Digital Videoscope: 5.5mm Inspection Camera with High-Quality Imager Head by Matt Eason

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good tool for its price that broadens the horizon. And the pictures are good too.

I ordered this so I could check for a water leak in the hot tub that appeared to be in a very hard to reach area. After only using it as a camcorder, I bought a 32GB card for it as it doesn't hold the same image. And they were great. No, not as good as your dedicated full-size camcorder, but very good considering it's a micro camera at the end of a flexible rod. It took me a while to figure out the orientation by trying to calculate "above" as I was looking at the verses and found it easiest to navigate "above" by looking at a known object and the camera accordingly grabbed before I started poking around. under the plumbing and up the bathtub wall. Once I figured that out, I found the crack, took a picture of it, popped a map into my computer where I could enlarge it and print it out, and came up with a repair plane. bottom line; This camera has saved me thousands on my repair bills or simply replaced the spa. I knew exactly where and what the leak looked like and acted accordingly. Believe it or not, just a few days later my wife was complaining about the dryer vent not coming out properly, the laundry room was sauna-like and full of lint. And suddenly I had another opportunity to use my new camera! The problem was spotted BEFORE I ripped everything off the wall and everything went smoothly. i love this shop My only complaint? I wish they had shipped it with the graphics card and I think closing the battery door with a Phillips head screw is overkill and inconvenient when you want to remove the batteries for storage. If I were to use it every day I would just leave them there, but since in my case it's a repair tool and I have no idea when I'll need it again, I'd rather take it out than forgetting and realizing that it exploded and destroyed the battery. Compartment for when I need it next time. Someone complained that the light at the end of the wand wasn't enough. I didn't think so. In the attached picture, the pipe joint is about 20 inches from the access panel and almost entirely in darkness, twilight at best. I can clearly see the cracked joint and traces of water. Good camera for the money in my opinion.
