It really works! You don't have to buy an expensive charger if you have one of these and a spare dryer plug in your garage. The only thing to note is that you need to set your Tesla's charge limit to around 26 amps to avoid tripping the house circuit breaker, since the dryer plugs only draw 30 amps and the car is trying to shut down. Default is 40 amps. But the good news is that the car will remember this every time you adjust the setting once when it's in that spot. Plugged into a 26-amp outlet, the car still charges at 18mph, so it was enough for us to fully charge it each night. I just bought a second one for our weekend cabin. Love it!
