Works great in Dell R610 Server Plug-n-Play NO on ESXI 6.5

I have a pair of Dell R610 and getting remote backups on USB 2 (whatever there is) limits the transfer to 30MB/s The R610 has no additional outputs on the back, so an additional USB 3.0 card was required, which required additional performance beyond the performance of the PCI e slot (max. 75W). Hardware. Good that all fears have been dispelled. I hooked it up to an R610 (no tools), closed the case, booted up 2012 HV and it auto-configures. It comes with drivers on the hard drive, but I don't think you need them as they are built into the OS. If you have a WD Passport drive it will appear on other USB devices, these are not cards issuing their own Western Digiatls. It works fine, but if you want the device manager to look good with WD drivers, get the drivers from WD and then the device manager will look good. I don't think it's performance or not that matters. Pros: No additional power cord required. (not sure why they would do that as PCI-e slots can provide 75W) - Plug n Play doesn't really require drivers - Speed Now my external USB driver can transfer around 110MB/s and around 75MB/s write. So it's not a disk bottleneck at all. I don't know what its top speed is. You need a large external USB SSD. I would use SSDs as they are not reliable long term external storage so you will have to settle for more reliable but slower mechanical USB drives. I even plugged in a 9ft USB extension cable and got the same results. I'll probably order a few more to update some other old dog servers I have. VM and ESXI are very unstable. In this case, pass the adapter to a VM (Server 2012) and install Windows drivers on the VM. It looks fine until you shut down the VM and crash the VM and sometimes ESXI. I had to buy a Highpoint USB stick for ESXI. However, this card has 5 stars for Windows only for a reasonable price.
