These shorts have a slim fit. My daughter usually wears a size 10/12 and has some room in the waist. With them, they adapt to the legs and waist. I would recommend going up a size and using an adjustable waist to tighten if needed. That's the only reason I'm giving them a 4 instead of a 5. They are of excellent quality and look fresh and tidy. They are attached to straight legs. Came to the knee. My daughter wore them for a group and said they are not hot and light although the material is a bit thick. These are great shorts for the money.
