Easy to use and accurate (DO NOT use to check product net weight)

Today I finally have my first kitchen scale! I expect to use it primarily for weighing mail and prescription ingredients. It comes with 2 AAA batteries which I found in the package *after* putting in 2 of my own. The battery cover feels a bit cheap/thin as it is made of the same white plastic as the base of the device. It took me a little effort to slide the two plastic tabs back into the two slots in the base before snapping the door into the base. My first attempt to verify the accuracy of the scale was using a can of Creamy Mushroom Soup (10.5 oz/298 g net weight) and the new Old Spice Antiperspirant Stick (2.6 oz/73 g net weight). On the scale, each product weighs 15-20% more than the stated weight! I was about to contact the manufacturer when I decided to search for "consumer product net weight" which is "weight of the product without packaging" which explains the weight discrepancy. I then looked for a common household item of known weight and very little variation - US coins! A US quarter weighs 5.67g, so 10 should weigh around 56.7g. On my scale, 1 quarter weighed 6g and 10 56g (should be 57g within the resolution of the scale, but it was close enough for me; the quarters must have lost some mass as they orbit). I like the backlit display and quick on/off times. I haven't tried the ZERO button, but I don't think there will be any problems. The UNIT button is very sensitive; I ran my finger over it and scrolled to the next unit of measurement in the sequence. It would probably be better if I pressed the button harder and more deliberately. updated when I log the actual usage time of the scale.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Almost everything there
