You can also buy two separate remote controls (not for me)

I had high hopes for that. I wanted to use it for my NVIDIA shield. For some reason CEC doesn't work between my Nvidia Shield and Samsung TV, so I have to send power and volume commands to the TV through the TV's normal IR route. I thought this would be the perfect alternative to the more expensive Nvidia Shield remote that I am about to buy. Here are the problems I have with this remote control: - Difficult to program the IR function. The instructions are correct but a bit confusing, especially if you have programmed other IR learning remotes in the past. It works exactly the opposite of what you think. In addition, it took 10 to 20 attempts in learning mode before the commands were recognized. - Air mouse mode seems inconsistent, but you can control it if you have a very steady hand. - This remote control is really 2 remote controls in one, but never at the same time. It works in either RF mode or IR mode. That means I have to switch modes to control the TV's power or volume, and switch again to control the Nvidia shield, which means the commands require two button presses every now and then. Ridiculous! This is really a big problem for me. It's not much different than having two remote controls, what now, where I think about it would actually be more efficient (pressing one key instead of two). - Maybe mine is defective(?), but as far as I know the backlight function doesn't work in IR mode. Then what's the point of having a backlight? - The backlight does not turn on automatically when you pick up the remote control. I have to press the button, but in IR mode it doesn't turn on at all. Considering this remote has an air mouse, it definitely has the hardware needed to detect motion. So this seems like an odd omission. No, it's not for me.
