Review on πŸ”Œ ProClimb Steel Wire Core Flip Occupational Health & Safety Products for Emergency Response Equipment by Jeremy Carpenter

Very durable. Love it

I have this reversible cord for double tying when trimming branches on a tree I also use it to stay tied to a tree when I untie my climbing rope to throw it elsewhere in the tree. I love it. One end of the flipline has a very strong carabiner with a carabiner and the other end has a rope grab with a reinforced carabiner. The carabiner is a triple automatic lock .You must pull the gate up and then rotate before you can open it.AFTER the gate is released it will be locked automatically. it creates trust and security. The carabiner is also very heavy and it seems like it would take a lot of force to break it. The rope grip is mediocre in my opinion. To be fair, they have another product called "Improved" Rope Grip. I didn't try. Rope grip is unidirectional. So you can just pull the rope to tighten it. To release, open the rope handle and pull the rope through. It works and does its job, but it's not the smoothest of operations. I can replace it with a Prusik loop, we'll see. At first I was concerned about the carabiner, but it has a safety. If you try to open the carabiner, it will not open. You must first hold the back of the carabiner before it can open. it creates a lot more security, so I don't mind using it. Also, the carabiner makes the rope a bit heavier, which is also a good thing. When tying a rope around a tree, the carabiner goes around the tree very easily due to the weight. and it's really easy to hook and unhook the carabiner on the saddle, which is very important as you have to keep tying in different parts of the tree. The flipline itself is very solid and inspires confidence. It is very comfortable to hold and maneuver and feels very solid. I've heard some people say that metal core lanyards aren't any safer than rope lanyards, but I know that's not true. You can find several people on YouTube (like Jake/Treeson from Eastside Treeworks) donating many of their fliplines to test their steadfastness. Steel core cutting line can take a lot of effort from a handsaw and a little from a chainsaw. Rope fliplines, on the other hand, break at the slightest cut from a chainsaw. When I saw this, I realized that the steel core was the only way out.

Pros
  • CLIMB WITH CONFIDENCE: Our high-visibility lanyard is made from 16-strand bright neon orange polyester tightly braided around a flexible, heavy-duty 1/4" 7 x 19 galvanized steel wire aviation cable. This gives the flipline an extra Stiffness makes turning the tree easier, especially with large logs
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
