was corrupt I've been a fan of Budget Visualizer lately. I've used cameras in all price ranges over the years and this V508 is double the price compared to dock cameras. Like other high quality visualizers, this one can be used as a standalone unit! So great. Pros: Image quality - many resolutions to suit your needs. At work I have a projector that can only do 1024 x 768 and I need 1080p exactly when recording the class on a computer. No matter what resolution I choose, it looks fantastic. I was also very satisfied with the quality of the camera when using it as a webcam. Frighteningly good! The auto exposure does a great job and you can adjust the saturation/brightness/contrast to suit your situation. Offline mode. To get the most out of this device, connect your computer via VGA (USB for using the visualizer software) and then use VGA. - Output or HDMI to connect to projector/screen/monitor. So you can not only use the software functions, but also use the camera separately and use all hardware functions. Software. The visualizer software is one of the best I've used for a document camera. The OCR scan does a fantastic job and I love that I can put myself in a little box with a webcam in the corner when I'm recording lessons. The software is supplied on a CD and updates can be downloaded from the website. At the time of writing this is version 2.1. Construction - The materials are strong enough. No squeaks and groans when moving. The buttons are clickable and responsive. Also, the whole thing folds down to about 3.5 inches and stows under a monitor stand. adjustments. Not only can you point the camera in almost any direction, but the hardware zoom and keystone settings worked flawlessly. It's easy to get an idea of exactly what you want. Lighting - a strip of LED lamps and an LED bulb. They do their job in a darkened room, but I think they could be a bit brighter. What needs improvement: 1. I would like the camera head to turn down more. I had a specific angle I wanted to work with, but it was difficult. I ended up adjusting the keystone settings and everything worked fine. It doesn't matter and there is a workaround for my problem. Was just surprised. It could always be the book, and then I wouldn't need to configure anything. Haha2. It would also be nice to use a dome for the IR sensor. Either way, you'll need to point the remote at the sides of your arm for it to register a button press. If the IR sensor was built into the base and placed in a small dome that could be oriented 360 degrees, that would be better! Nibbles aside, there's really nothing bad to say about the V508. This is a worthy upgrade for any school teacher. The visualizer software and the ability to use it WITHOUT a computer or software sets this unit apart from the competition at the same price. I really love it! Can't wait to use it in my new class next year.
