Review on Frigidaire 242303001 Refrigerator by Kyle Kriglstein

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked great and saved me $300

I had an issue with my 5 year old Frigidaire side by side refrigerator (FFH52311PFBA) that would stop cooling after a power outage and display the H1 error , but the freezer was still freezing (and frosting). After some research I found out it could be two things. 1. the flap (this part) is dead and needs to be replaced, or 2. the return air vent in the fridge that leads back to the freezer compartment is blocked by ice - because the heating element under the fridge is not working properly (usually too much dust on it Wash). After checking the vent (usually on the side panel behind one of the food drawers) and realizing that ice wasn't blocking the vents, and still dusting the coils, I found that it was a damper that caused the fridge to not chilled. . This thing is pretty easy to install. You can watch videos on YouTube of people doing what I did to see how difficult it is. They called several local repair shops and asked for $120 to come to the door and run a diagnostic, PLUS an hourly rate for the labor, PLUS the cost of the part, which was about $40 more than here at Revain. I ordered this part on here believing I could always return it with Revain's excellent return policy should it turn out to be something more serious that I need to bite the bullet and hire this expensive professional. The item arrived within a day. It took me about 20 minutes to install it by unscrewing the cabinet from the fridge side (make sure you have an extended 1/4" hex head screw/screwdriver). I unplugged the fridge, carefully unplugged the power plug and sensor, then unplugged the old one and plugged this one in. I didn't even bother installing the faceplate that came with the new one as the old one was still ok and the part fit right in. There are only two connectors and a sensor rod to deal with, making the tangle of cables look more intimidating. than it really is. I carefully reassembled it, plugged in the fridge and after a few seconds I could feel cold air coming out of that vent, indicating the door panel was working again. After about 12 hours my fridge was back to normal and I could feel the flap opening and closing as I adjusted the digital dial on the side of the fridge. If you have this problem, check the coils for dust and the air return for ice. If it's not blocked, this could be your problem and it's an easy, money-saving fix. Much luck.
