Review on Buxton Black Passport Wallet with Enhanced Blocking Technology by Wendy Ducy

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good wallet but not perfect.

I bought this hoping to expedite airport security, but when I used it I found out that the TSA requires you to remove your photo ID or passport, which defeats the purpose. I also tried a very similar product from Royce so I will compare them. I prefer Royce even though it's about twice the price of Buxton. Royce has very soft, supple leather. Buxton isn't as flexible but seems more durable. My US passport fit the Royce snugly, but not too tight. Buxton was a little easier to insert. On the other hand, my credit cards fit very snugly in the Buxton and the vertical slots made them difficult to remove. The credit card fit was much better and more comfortable on the Royce. My biggest criticism of the Royce is that it only has four credit card slots while the Buxton has six. Four should be enough for personal cards, but I carry both personal and business cards. I really like how Royce implemented two money pockets, one deeper than the other, which is ideal for keeping US and foreign currencies separate. Buxton's implementation has a money pocket on the inside and another pocket that can be used for cash on the outside. This is more flexible but increases the thickness of the wallet. If only I could create the perfect purse for myself. I would take the Royce and switch the side of the passport and the side of the credit card so that the passport is on the right and the credit cards are on the left. Thus, the back cover of the passport could be inserted, allowing the passport to be opened without being removed for airport security. I spoke to the TSA and it was acceptable as long as they can examine the photo page under their UV light. Another thing I would change is that I moved the driver's license slot/window away from the passport slot, which would allow for the addition of two more credit card slots. I think it would be a near perfect design! Surprisingly, I found that both wallets fit in the back pocket of my pants (jeans or dress) quite easily and were much more comfortable than I expected. I think the larger design holds things a bit better so the wallet isn't as thick as a smaller traditional wallet. What I didn't expect was that I had a little problem with a pair of jackets that had small chest pockets. In any case, these are beautiful wallets and preferences are largely subjective and based on individual needs. I hope my comments will help someone choose the one that will work best for them.
