The charger looks and works the same as the small charger that Microsoft came with one of my other Surface Pro 2 tablets. Has the same charging LED on the end of the magnetic connector. It even has the same sleek cable clip as the original MS charger, which is nice. The charger was bubble wrapped and came in a regular brown box. If it cuts costs then I really don't need fancy packaging. As a test, I charged the Surface Pro 2 battery to about 5% capacity and then connected the charger. Immediately appears connected and starts charging, just like a factory charger. I looped YouTube videos to prevent the screen from sleeping while loading. It took about 2.5 hours from plugging in to fully charging, and the charger felt slightly warm, as expected. use the device a lot, so it doesn't get tossed in a backpack very often, but I tend to wind up the cable between charges, so we'll see how it holds up. We have several Surface 2 devices and this will be the main charger for them due to the size. For the price, if it lasts a year it will definitely be a winner.
