When I first unpacked this bag I didn't know what that grippy white strap was for and I was absolutely blown away. I seriously considered returning the bag, especially since the lid can be opened except for the magnetic closure. However, when I rearranged it, I found that without the snap strap under my arm, I could carry the bag over my shoulder and fasten it that way. I like the weight, the canvas look and the small inner pockets for a phone and other items. The zippered container can hold my small wallet for security. The bag is stylish and I've had a few compliments on how cute it is. I use it as a handbag because it's not a huge beach bag for a small person. I think if it had little "legs" underneath it would stay a little cleaner and last longer, but overall I'm happy with the purchase.
