Review on πŸ’ͺ Powerbuilt 940541 Valve Spring Compressor: Efficient Solution for Valve Maintenance by Brennan Buckley

It feels like a tough task. But read the rest!

This is a much better tool for compressing valve springs. Remember that it is attached to the rocker arm bolt for the lever. If it works for you then this is a great tool. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS AFTER USE: This is indeed a very effective valve spring removal tool. I like the positive lock when the lever is pressed. HOWEVER, one of the short hex bolts holding the lever to the stem broke at the base on first use when the last and 16th spring was removed. That's not good at all for a tool that has to withstand 400-500 pounds of pressure. I'll go to a hardware store and try to replace both screws with better quality ones. If I decide to return it and get a new block I will resize it but not fix the problem as the new block will have the same bad screw system. THE POWERBUILT SHOULD BE KNOWN THAT THESE INSUFFICIENT SCREWS ARE USED AND WILL BE REDUCED TO 2 STARS. RESULT OF REPAIR: I repaired the unit by replacing 2 hinge screws (smaller) with M6-1.0 x 16mm class 12.9 (class 8) M6-1.0 x 16mm flat head socket head cap screws and one used washer with nut. I am convinced that the tool will be more reliable now. Revain provided a $6.20 credit to cover the cost of this repair.
