Review on Deep Cycle Rechargeable Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Pack - TalentCell LF4021, 12V 12Ah, 12.8V 153.6Wh by Roosevelt Weaver

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Dynamite. Almost. best in my review

I put this in my child's Peg Perego "Gator" and it works very well, letting him ride around all day. I charge it with a benchtop power supply, with current and voltage limits of 2.5A, 14.5V (about 0.2C). Charging takes about the 5 hours you would expect. The plaque on the battery indicates a maximum charging current of 6.5A, but I have no desire to "push the envelope" and decrease battery life. I have not noticed any leakage of charge when not in use, but it has not been stored for long periods. I've not noticed any degradation in the battery performance over about 30 charging cycles. The label indicates it is rated for 2000+ cycles at 0.2C.Compared to the older lead acid battery I took out of the gator, this battery is extremely light, at maybe a third or quarter of the mass. The casing is strong enough to handle the bumps and jolts of a 4-year old bouncing around a rough yard with no damage. That is important because this battery, at 12V, 12Ah, holds roughly 0.5 megajoule. A stick of dynamite is roughly 1 MJ. Treat it with respect. The terminals on this battery are #12 NF thread female and it came with corresponding machine screws and color-coded 6" leads.

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • Depending on individual usage habits and needs, the TalentCell LF4021 may require frequent and long charge times, making it less convenient and reliable for those who need consistent, uninterrupted power for extended periods of time
