Review on ๐Ÿถ Cozy and Stylish: Stinky G Burgundy Stripe Dog Hoodie Sweater by Pamela Howard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Let's talk about the good first.

This hoodie is so well made I can picture my Grammy sitting in a rocking chair knitting it. But it has what I think is a very BIG flaw. But let's talk about the good first. I've read many reviews that say "This hoodie is too big for my dog." This is NOT my case. I read the sizing chart AND ALSO the instructions in the description which says the weight of the dog that needs to wear a certain size and I went from there. I have 4 dogs. Two of them are just over the 20lb mark for the plus size that fits them. My Golden Retriever is 68 pounds and my Great Pyrenees is 150 pounds. ;-) - That was a joke, by the way - The medium is perfect for my 9.5lb Chihuahua (Matisse), but it's a bit bigger and longer for my 8lb Chihuahua (Rocky). Now you may be thinking you want it to last longer to cover more of your dog, but keep this in mind. If the sweater is too long, your dog (especially the male dog) will get wet when he lifts his leg and the back of the sweater will touch the ground when he does other things. The small size fits Rocky perfectly and Matisse could wear it too, but I like the large size better on Matisse. It was easy to put the sweater on my two dogs and the sweater stayed on without slipping to one side or the other. This is because you slide the dog's front paws through 2 sleeves and the sweater stays in place. Also, my dogs didn't even try to take the sweater off, I think that's because they are so soft and comfortable to walk around in. A hood on a sweater is a different matter. The hood won't stay in place without a chin strap. I managed to wear the hood on my dogs long enough to take a picture but that's about it. (They look like lollipops with tails). I think a nice soft piece of red stretch felt will help. BIG FAIL. Small dogs need halters, NOT collars, especially when attached to a car seat. If you collar a dog to its car seat and have even the slightest kink in the wing, you risk breaking your dog's neck. So let me say it again. SMALL DOGS NEED BELT! This sweater doesn't have a buttonhole to attach the leash to the halter and it doesn't even have a buttonhole to attach the leash to the collar, which is what you need if you're using a hood. If you don't care about the hood, you can use the leash on the collar. I love this sweater so much I am going to make a hole for the button as well as a chin strap. Give this hoodie 4 stars because it doesn't have a buttonhole, but someone else gave it 4 stars because "she didn't know it had a hood". I don't think the fact that it said "Red Striped Hooded Sweater" wasn't a clue to them. Anyway, 5 stars here to make sure everything is as it should be. I hope this review was helpful to you. will be warm and safe. Speaking of 'safety' - the airbag is traveling at 400 miles per hour when it deploys - imagine what your 6 pound dog would look like if he were in the passenger seat and deployed. Just like a kid. Put your dog in a car seat. In the back seat. And remember the halter. Okay I'm done - have a rainbow day!
