nice to have a vent

Installed on two tanks with fuel oil. The reservoirs were used but empty so when drilling the holes I used an air compressor with a blowgun stuck in the spout hole. I wrapped it in a clean rag to prevent backflow as I blew air into the reservoir and the hole. No particles entered but flew out as I drilled. I used a step drill which seemed to work fine, I drilled a little at a time to check until the vents popped open with some effort. I filled the containers and tipped them on their side, no leaks. I'll do the same with the gas bottle when it's empty. I know some people have used a screw or other means to make the vent and close it, but I find it safer and lasts longer.

Pros
  • Fits plastic and metal fuel tanks such as Blitz, Wedco, Scepter, Essence, Midwest, Eagle, Chilton, Briggs & Stratton, Rotopax, Gott, Rubbermaid, Sears Craftsman, Anchor and Koplin.
Cons
  • Not sure
