The paint doesn't stick and they melt.
Tried to use it for a science project to model an atom. Washable tempera craft paint does not stick. The paint can melted the balloons. Pooh! Of course, couldn't return it, but wanted to let the buyers know. I bought various styrofoam balls (smooth styrofoam flower/craft balls from the local (national) craft store) and they worked great with both colors, just wasted a lot of time on the project. ;-(
