This collar is very effective in stopping my dogs from barking, but I would like to point out that they have been previously trained with shock collars. I always check the impact level on them and find that they are not painful at all, but they do get your attention. Anyway, my dogs assume that after the beep and vibration comes the shock, so they stop barking as soon as they hear the beep on their neck. Because of this, this collar still works very well. I love that it's not shocking because at this point my dogs actually bark when they have a reason so I don't want to punish them for doing their jobs. I don't mind if they bark when someone comes to the door, but I don't want excessive barking because leaves are flapping in my yard. Since all of my dogs are trained to wear a collar, they all respond to the beeping and stop barking when they hear the collar being removed, even if they aren't wearing it. To be honest I could probably just lay this collar on the counter and it would work just as well. I am very happy with this collar but be aware that it may not be as effective if the dog is not used to the post sonic vibration shock.
