My IKEA shelves are about 13 x 13 x 13 cm and I was afraid they would be too small. They are perfect as they give my toddler some room to manipulate them in and out. A small gap at the top allows you to place bulky items like stuffed animals and dump trucks. Important things. They're sturdy, easy to hold onto a pile of wooden railroad tracks, and look stylish, which helps the part of me that wants the house to look organized, even if it's not LOL.
