Review on Kipling ABEL Convertible Crossbody Black by Kate Moon

What happened to Kipling quality?

I have been carrying Kipling bags for at least 10 years. This bag was a big disappointment. Sizing is EXCELLENT, just what I like, perfect location of pockets BUT. The first thing I noticed about the packaging was the zippers. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP. They're totally cheap zippers, lighter weight, shiny silver, don't slide nearly as well as Kipling's tried and true original zippers, and the zippers look like they're about to break after prolonged use. The next big disappointment was the strap. One of the things I love about Kipling straps is that they are more like cotton and "cloth". The strap on this bag was more of a "nylon, synthetic" strap. I like original cotton straps because they don't slip off your shoulder as easily as smooth nylon straps, and I think they don't chafe your clothes as much when you're carrying a crossbody bag, so your clothes roll less. Finally, I feel that the fabric of the bag is a bit thinner than all my other Kipling bags. approx 8. Overall a total disappointment and I'm going back. I hope this bag isn't a hint at Kipling's future quality.

Pros
  • Band Length: N inches; Pockets: 1 slip, 3 zippers, 2 outside
Cons
  • Minor issues
