As the RIVAL range draws to a close, Hasbro seems ready to capitalize on one of the well-known features of the unique RIVAL (HIR) High Impact cartridges. ). This is their tendency to arc in different directions depending on the "spin" of the ball when fired. Smart nerfers have noticed this trend and learned to manipulate it, turning their blasters sideways (or even flipping them if possible) to fire in an arc around corners or up and down stairs. The Curve Shot Flex XXI-100 tries to capitalize on that. A new feature of the RIVAL cartridges is the presence of a simple rotating barrel, which can be rotated left or right to deflect its shots in the chosen direction. It's a fun feature that definitely works well enough, but it's common sense considering almost every other RIVAL blaster can do the same thing, simply by physically repositioning itself before firing. Other than that, the Flex XXI-100 is a pretty standard little RIVAL pistol. It is loaded by chambering a single round and ignited by a bottom-mounted piston, and has typical RIVAL power and reasonable accuracy when fired. The Flex XXI-100 can carry 4 additional rounds in the grooves on the front of the blaster. Aside from the curve fire capability, the Flex XXI-100 is a very slow rate of fire blaster that's too big for what it does, although it's definitely cheap enough that buying one just to shoot around the house isn't the best. I just wouldn't recommend it for anything else, and I have a feeling even young nerfers will tire of the rather tedious rebooting process after a while.
