Review on Your Choice Antibacterial Lightweight Backpacking by Gabriel Tomato

Buy more, prepare properly and they turn out great, I like them better than my old HTO travel towels

I bought two XXL towels and two large of these towels, each with a towel. I saw a lot of reviews complaining about the overlock stitch unraveling instantly so I checked the overlock stitch first. They're cheaply made so the corners don't flap properly with the constant rounding of the corner, or overcasting and then turning inside out, nor do the corners leave tails to tuck in - they're just cut tight and it will ALWAYS unravel. HOWEVER, this is a stretch overlock so the solution is simple - just use a lighter or candle to gently melt the overlock in each corner before washing and using. I literally spent 2 minutes doing this with all (32) corners of my towels. Now they have been used and washed repeatedly and are still overclocked. But this material will hold up even if your edges come undone as it is not a woven fabric. As with any fabric that needs to be super absorbent, it's important to pre-wash to remove any manufacturing residue that affects absorbency and most importantly, DO NOT use fabric softener! I prewashed it once and let it air dry. They are soft, pliable and densely packed. If you're not familiar with travel towels, don't expect lightweight suede — they're more like automotive suede, but I definitely like them more than the ones I got from Hudson Trail Outfitters about 10 years ago, which are more like thin crepe and silky rayon . I estimate that when wet they hold 4-5 times their weight in water. The two XXLs are for two large adults, while the Large is for large 8s and 6s. In hindsight I would have chosen XL for kids - the large size is good for the shower but the XL is more of a beach towel size and the difference between weight and packaging is so minimal. They also serve a dual function as blankets/spreads - we camped in below 40 degrees and an unexpected cold front caused temperatures to drop to freezing overnight. We used large towels for extra floor barrier and XXL towels for extra protection and they added a noticeable extra layer of warmth so I'm sure they'll be superb on a windy beach day. I recommend them without hesitation and will probably buy two more as spares to keep in our vehicles.
