We bought this camera because my wife didn't want to take any of our Nikon DSLRs with us during our recent trip to Spain and South Africa. It quickly became our favorite camera. After comparing the quality of photos taken with the Cyber-shot with similar photos taken with the Nikon D70 (with an 18-200 zoom lens), it turned out that they were almost the same quality. The Nikon metering is slightly better, but it doesn't matter in Photoshop. The zoom is fantastic, comparable to a 150mm lens on an SLR. The panorama function is really neat and offers good coverage. The built-in movie function is great. Photos fail to capture the essence of the Zulu dancers. I bet this camera will be used five times more in the future than either of our Nikon DSLRs. I bought a high speed 16GB memory card and never had to worry about running out of space. The second battery came in handy. If the camera stays on, it means the LCD screen is on and this will reduce battery life. Order a replacement battery with your camera (newer Model G batteries will show remaining battery life on screen).
