I have been using this router for several years. This is a very good router and I have used it with Sony Vaio, Compaq and HP computers running Windows XP systems. It works great when it works. The software and setup is a bit fiddly and it seems you need to be online to install it properly. I bought a router because we have a desktop, laptop and Xbox connected to a DSL line. I was able to create a LAN system and "talk" between the laptop and desktop computer without any problems. I even set my printer to this whole shibang. What upset me was that I had switched to a new HP desktop computer running Vista. Vista would not recognize Linksys software. It created a network with my laptop, but I wanted everything to be on a wired network. This router has this feature and I figured I was using a wired system. But I tested a friend's laptop with wireless capabilities, and here I am on the laptop. I created a system that should be wired, and here I am putting my business on display for all to see. Needless to say, it's disabled and hidden where it doesn't bother me anymore. In short, it works fine, but check for security issues after installation. If you go for the wired option, bring another laptop with you to make sure you're connected (and I mean alcohol-free). I know I disabled WiFi, but this router had other plans.
