These boots really do true to size. The top is very roomy so they slide a little with skinny pants, but go perfectly with winter pants and other thick pants tucked into the top of boots. The Velcro area is very wide. They are difficult to open due to the large adhesive area, but once open they are really very easy to put on and adjust. For a 7 year old with sensory issues it's easy enough to slip into boots including winter clothes. They dry pretty well. I found that if I unvelcroed them and stretched the top, there was more airflow and circulation to help them dry even more.
